Floyd’s problems could lead to Pacquiao-Mosley tiff

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s legal battles could lead to a potential blockbuster match in the near future between Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao and former welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley.
Veteran boxing commentator Larry Merchant said that if Mayweather remains unavailable after Pacquiao’s super welterweight fight against Antonio Margarito on November 13, chances are that the Filipino would fight Mosley.
“What if, for example Pacquiao beats Margarito and Mayweather is unavailable for whatever reason, personal, legal problems... Mosley would probably be the best choice for a good fight that Pacquiao could make at the time,” Merchant said in an interview with Dog House Boxing.com.

Mayweather is now facing charges for allegedly beating up his former girlfriend Josie Harris. If convicted of all the charges against him, the unbeaten boxer could face more than 30 years in jail.
Mosley, on the other hand, is facing Sergio Mora this coming Saturday (Sunday in Manila). If “Sugar” survives this assignment, he would be more than willing to take an offer to fight Pacquiao.
The former welterweight champion has been chasing Pacquiao since the latter’s victory over Miguel Cotto in 2009.
Mosley, meanwhile, commented on Mayweather’s legal ordeal.
"He should have stayed in boxing and taken that fight with Manny Pacquiao," Mosley said in a report posted on NY Daily News.com
"When you're not fighting or getting ready to fight you start to lose focus and you start getting into trouble," he added.
Mayweather outpointed Mosley during their welterweight clash last May.
“This thing with his ex-girlfriend, that's serious. I think he's gotten into something that he can't get out of," said Sugar
