Melo to the Nets?

After LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony may be the next marquee player from the Class of 2003 who will be the next to move.

The New Jersey Nets are reportedly the front runner for the Melo sweepstakes.

The Nets are said to have made an intriguing offer of 2010 No. 3 pick Derrick Favors, the expiring contracts of Troy Murphy and Kris Humphries, and at least one future first round draft pick.

ESPN sources said that the Denver Nuggets’ resistance to trading their All-Star forward is fading away.

The Nuggets are still not aggressively shopping Anthony and have not withdrawn their long-standing offer of a contract extension.

But team officials are said to be willing to listen to pitches after previously resisting such discussions.

Reports have persisted for weeks that Anthony, who can become a free agent at the end of the coming season, wants out of the Nuggets.
