RP's Huey & Mamiit wins 1 match vs Korea in Davis Cup

The Philippines won one match against Korea in the second-round playoffs of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group I on Saturday.

Filipinos Treat Huey and Cecil Mamiit cut Korea’s lead to 2-1 with a 3-set victory over Hyun-Joon Kim and Jae-Min Seol in the doubles match at the Chanwon Municipal Tennis Courts, South Korea.

will need to win the last two matches against Korea to remain in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group I.

The Philippines will be relegated to Group II if it loses against Korea.

The next match will be between Mamiit and Yong-Kyu Lim, followed by a final clash between Huey and Suk-Young Jeong.

Korea on Friday scored back-to-back matches for a 2-0 lead against the Philippines.

Huey bowed to Lim in four sets, 6(8)-7, 6-2, 7-6(7) and 7-6(4).

Mamiit yielded to Jeong despite winning the first two sets in the following match. The scores were 0-6, 1-6, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2.
