Meralco Bolts Nips Brgy Ginebra 73-72 - PBA Season Opener Phil Cup.

Manila, Philippines – The Meralco Bolts officially made their return to the Philippine Basketball Association in style, pulling out a 73-72 squeaker from crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra.

This was the lone game scheduled for today as the 36th PBA Season officially opened at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

Meralco drew credible performances from all players fielded in by Bolts' Coach Ryan Gregorio. Mac Mac Cardona, Nelbert Omolon and Asi Taulava led the charge, battling the Gin Kings in their head to head matchup.
Ginebra had all the chances after Cardona and Taulava flubbed 2 free throws in the dying seconds of the match.
But two turnovers, one by JC Intal and the other by Willie Miller were crucial, handing the Meralco Bolts a well-deserved victory in their initial game in the pro league
